ADC was founded in 2005, and it's 1st Annual Competition was in the lovely city of Palm Beach. Since then headquarters have moved to Orlando, Fl. and have remained for the last four years, bringing cultural diversity & inspiration to the city. As ADC continues to grow, its' creating this buzz worldwide, partly due to our expansion into Europe and the Far East, and partly due to our talented and even nationally televised competitors.
The key elements to our past successes include the caliber, esteem & superstar nature of our Judging Officials and scoring system. One of the most esteemed, Grandfathers of Dance, Ben Stevenson, joined us in 2007 as the Panel Chairman. In subsequent years, we've welcomed star studded Principals from American Ballet Theatre, Houston Ballet, Miami City Ballet, to name a few.
We've implemented a very unique way of judging, not seen anywhere else in the world. The competition has different rounds, but rounds have always elicited the nature of elimination. We've designed a new way, catering to the pre-professional student and their needs to continue their training & education in dance. They are first seen in Round 1, by the judges, in a studio setting, throughout many different classes ranging from: ballet technique, variations en pointe, and contemporary choreography, with the purpose to evaluate all participants on the same playing field. The score earned during this round is carried over and weighs heavily in the latter rounds.
In 2009, ADC entered into a strategic alliance with a Chinese based entertainment conglomerate, to bring the idea of ADC to the Far East and to educate the locals in the American style of competitive dancing. We are launching a sister company, ADC INTERNATIONAL, to be piloted in Shanghai, in the summer of 2011.
