- Soloist competitors may solely enter the classical ballet, the contemporary dance, or the performing arts category, for they are scored separately, and receive their own medals. However, to be considered for the ADC PRIZE, competitors must enter both the Classical & Contemporary Dance categories. Remember: The ADC PRIZE is awarded based on versatility excellence.
- More than one solo can be entered in each category, however, the variation with the highest score will be the one in consideration for medal placement, and other top score positions. (Ex: one participant will not be awarded both the Gold and Silver Medals in the same category).
- The competition is limited to the time available, so entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
- Competitors may enter as a soloist, part of an ensemble, or both. (Ex: a student may enter a classical variation, contemporary solo, pas de deux, and be apart of an ensemble).
- The average age will determine the age division for all Ensembles. Do not use decimals; round down. Ex: average age 14.9 = 14. So, this entry will be in the JUNIOR age division.
- General props are permitted in any of the performance categories, however no dangerous props: Ex, fire, knives, swords or pyrotechnics. The stage must be cleaned in a timely manner after a routine that has left articles on stage such as confetti, feathers, etc. All props must be in place and also removed within 1.5 minutes.
- The ADC values age-appropriate dances. If the judges consider either the costuming or the choreography to be inappropriate, immediate disqualification or point reductions may occur.
- If an ensemble loses a member right before the competition and drops below the original number registered, they may still compete in the time limit allotted for the larger group. Ex: A group of 8, loses 1 member, giving them 7, they may still compete with the 5:00 min length. If this circumstance occurs, immediately contact The ADC office, so no points will be deducted from the groups' score on the day of competition.

Scoring:
ADC's scoring system was devised to evaluate dancers in a complete fashion. This is the ONLY pre-professional competition that takes class technique into consideration. It is similar to New York International Ballet Competition, by means that, all dancers learn variations on the spot. We however felt that being a pre-professional competition, it was our duty to educate dancers on this process without the duress of elimination. Read more about this on the Round I link.
Final Score comprises 3 areas: Round I, Technical (onstage), and Artistic (onstage). Each area is adjudicated on a 100 point scale. The combined score of each Jury Member is then averaged to reach the final score for that performance. The Round I score is carried over through each of the competitors' solos. For example: when looking at your scoresheets, if you performed 3 solos, the top section (Round I) will all have the same numeric number.
